I want to create a really nice looking website, preferably flash. At first I will have content and some products to sell, I might want to add some other features after. Maybe member sign up, forum, newsletter blast, videos I’m not exactly sure where I’ll be going with it but I know I don’t want it to be ordinary and I want it to become something big.
So far I:
-Bought a domain name
-Got a host
-Learned some basic html, css and javascript

I’m using hostgator as my host and im very confused by all the features on the control panel. Should I use site builder to build my website? should I take a template I like and play with it? should I take a flash website I like and copy the code?
Should I learn php?
I don’t know where to start! I know there are many website builders that come for free but I want to be in control of my own website and im very confused of where to begin and what I need to learn.

Any guidance?
I asked this question before and someone basically told me that I’m in over my head, can I pull this off on my own or do I really need professional web designers, developers and marketing specialists?

Thank you.

What is the easiest website template or format to maintain? I am looking to start a website where content needs to be added and changed daily as well as posting video audi updates, like a newsletter. I need a quick and easy to maintain site, but that still looks unique and not cookie cutter.

I have little knowledge of HTML and dreamweaver etc. What type of webpage formats exist that would convert a simple cut and paste from Word and allow the webmaster to add/edit content? Is there a certain program built into the webpage? What should I instruct the web designer in building this type of site?

Thanks!

So I’m editing a website and I’d like to know how to add an image like this to a sidebar : http://slp.kiwanis.org/KeyClub/Libraries/Graphic_Standards_and_Logos/Template_KeyClub_Dark_green_pencil_graphic.sflb.ashx

and also how would i add text to it? :( i’ve been looking through tutorials for a while now and i can’t find anything !

for instance, on the side of my page i would display the image
and add "main page" on top of it
and then i would keep adding the same image to the bottom of the first one until i have a column of that image with text on it?

an example would be here : http://cnhkeyclub.org/
on the front page where it says "district newsletter" "fall rally" "district convention" etc… except i’d like to add that to a side bar.

i’m using a domain purchased from word press
not really like a scrollbar but more like the part of the website where all the pages are listed and when you click it it takes you to the page

web 2.0??

im doing an assignment on web 2.0 and having a hard time trying to understand some of the thing that i read online

can you guys help me explain on this differences that i found between web 1.0 and web 2.0

Differences between Web 1.0 and Web 2.0?
“Web 1.0: It is a billboard ad about your business.
• Flat and passive pages
• No interaction
• Basic information
• Costly to update and maintain
• Not user-friendly
Web 2.0: It is a front door into your business.
• Engaging, dynamic and interactive tools
• Databases (research, documents, newsletters, customer information…)
• Reusable (green) pages and templates
• Searchable
• Easy to locate
• Forms (for orders, inquiries…)”

I also having trouble finding the characteristic of web 2.0.
something like the openness and flexibility of the web 2.0.is there more characteristic out there for web 2.0??

thanks for the help
